About The Conference

UCLan Careers gained some funding to research perceptions of the employability of students and graduates who had an autism diagnosis, through exploring perceptions from employers and from students and graduates with an Autism spectrum condition (ASC).

As we offer a life-long service to all UCLan graduates, we have noted a trend in graduates with an autism diagnosis who are facing challenges in breaking through the traditional recruitment and selection methods.

Subsequently, we are facing students whom are attaining strong academic achievements but are not recruited for roles that their peers are gaining.

As a result, we have offered monthly employability workshops for students and graduates with an autism spectrum diagnosis; to have the small group space and time to engage with advisers, internal staff services and opportunity providers in a safe setting. This is now in its 2nd year but is a work in progress.
